AFTER SCHOOL SNACKS.
Lots of kiddies back to school today including my 3 muskateenies. No doubt they will return home hungry and asking for snacks. We often have after school activities and they need a bit of a refuel before we go.
After a day at school they're going to be tired, but as well as burning their energy all day they will also have been using up their vitamins too. Especially those water soluble ones that the body can't store, like vitamin C. So before reaching for something sugary you could give them something full of vitamins instead.
It took less than 4 minutes to cut 3 little portions of cucumber and pepper and put them in stacker pots so they're ready. This could be done whilst making breakfast first thing. If you really don't have time for this then fruit comes ready to go…… apples, bananas, pears sat in a fruit bowl to be dished out when the kids get home.
Tiredness isn't always caused by lack of energy, a lack of vitamins can have the same effect.
If they're super hungry you could team the fruit/veg sticks with a slice of toast or crackers.
Sugary treats will cause a surge of blood sugar followed by a drop in blood sugar which can, in the end, make our little folk more hungry, feeling more tired and often a tad grumpy too.
Happy munching 🥦🍏
