But what is FLECS?
FLECS is an effective exercise programme using inflatable Swiss fitness balls.
One of the main focuses for every exercise is the core. A hugely important part of the body at the centre of the torso. Although some exercises do work the surface tummy muscles such as the abs (the muscles used to flex and bend the body) FLECS exercises target the deep core network which support and stabilise. The use of the fitness balls provides an unstable surface which challenges balance and this is a fantastic way to get the core muscles to activate. The unstable surface also encourages an equal workout, making it hard to favour muscles or to compensate so you have to work both sides of your body equally which improves alignment and posture.
With a heavy influence form years of professional dance training the exercises are developed to create long toned muscles and a flexible body with each exercise working many areas of the body in partnership with the core.
This is a full body toning and strengthening exercise programme which progresses over the weeks of the course to show improvement and development week by week.
Every class always involves a really good stretch to improve flexibility, release physical tension and to keep muscles long and functional.
The classical music playlist helps the mind relax and unwind while the body works out and I have been told many a time how well people sleep following a FLECS work out.
